Learning Principles

As experienced training professionals, we know how to ensure long-lasting learning and behavioural change. All of our courses are formed around our 5 pedagogical principles. In this way, you can be sure of a consistently successful training design.

How to achieve maximum learning

  • Training should always be relevant. Key’s courses should always be directed to the needs and goals of the organisation and participant. What’s more, the learning should be immediately applicable in the workplace. If the content of a course satisfies these criteria, the participant can see the value in learning.

  • People learn when they are motivated. There is a circular cause and effect relationship between motivation and success. That is, the more one succeeds, the greater one’s motivation; the greater one’s motivation, the greater one succeeds. We believe we develop positive motivation in our participants by creating a training environment in which they experience success. This, in turn, can contribute to positive motivation, leading to still greater success.

  • Participants must take responsibility for their own learning. The trainer’s role is to help participants identify their needs and to show them how to independently meet them. The participant must take the responsibility for their own development and not simply hand over the authority to the trainer. In this way, they learn how to continue to develop when the training is finished.

  • Clear goals assist success. In any learning situation, it is essential to have a clear goal. Once this goal is set, it is easier to know when you’ve achieved it. Without an objective, learning can be meaningless and unrewarding.

  • People learn when they are having fun. Key courses should be memorable. When someone participates on a Key workshop, it should be a positive experience. We believe this contributes to an increased personal development and learning that is retained longer.
