Cultural Awareness Print E-mail

Strange things sometimes turn up at work. It can be objects we don’t recognise, attitudes or behaviours we think are unusual. Very often this is to do with the fact that we work with others who are located, or who come from, another part of the world. Occasionally, this type of intercultural contact results in unexpected reactions or a misunderstanding of each other’s intentions. These incidents can have a direct impact on the productivity and efficiency of an organisation.

Key’s training in Cultural Awareness provides you with improved knowledge and understanding of the behaviours, values and expectations of other cultures in order to contribute to smoother working relationships. In addition, the training equips you with strategies for dealing with potential problems and for building on cultural differences to create success

» Example Agenda

WHAT ISSUES DOES THIS TRAINING ADDRESS?

  • How can I improve efficiency by becoming more culturally aware?
  • How can I avoid situations or misunderstandings that can occur due to cultural differences?
  • How can I adapt my own behaviour in order to communicate more effectively with other cultures at work?

WHAT ARE THE OUTPUTS OF THE TRAINING?

By the end of the training, you will:
  • Have a deeper understanding of culture and how it affects our communication
  • Understand elements of cultural research that will help you take an analytical, problem solving approach when working together with other cultures
  • Possess some diagnostic skills required to understand new cultural environments
  • Know about Swedish culture and the main differences between Swedish and other targeted cultures, such as UK, USA and Asian cultures

DESIGNED ACCORDING TO YOUR NEEDS AND GOALS

Together with you, we look at your needs and goals. Based on this, we suggest the most efficient way to deliver this training. It can be, for example, intensive workshops, on-going individual coaching, consultation, or project work.  When possible, we focus this training on your specific target cultures, often comparing the values and behaviours of these cultures with each other.

Because we see the world as our workplace, we can deliver training at the location that best suits you. Training can be delivered in English or Swedish.

WHAT PREVIOUS PARTICIPANTS SAID ABOUT THE TRAINING?

Before the course, I had some mixed feelings about the usefulness of training in cultural awareness, but I have to say now that the course clearly exceeded all my expectations. I would have loved to continue the course for another day.

Participant, AstraZeneca Sweden2006

The trainer’s knowledge was very extensive in the subject. It made the workshop more interesting and realistic. Keep up the excellent work. The importance of individual participation, not just “instructor-based” can not be underestimated. I appreciated that the success was also dependent on what the participants contribute.
